Rio Puelo originates from Lake Puelo high in the Andes in Argentina from where it travels 65 miles through Chile to end its diverse journey at the Reloncavi Estuary.
The crystal clear rivers offer a variety of fly fishing waters ranging from sweeping riffles and cut banks to deep slicks which abound with trophy size Rainbows and Brown Trout, made greater by runs of salmon entering the river from the estuary---Coho, Atlantic and the great Chinook.
Located S41º 36´ 38,7 , W072º 14´09,20, some 6 miles upriver from the estuary and 4 miles below Lake Tagua Tagua, our Lodge overlooks the north bank of River Puelo at an ideal spot amid stunning natural beauty immediately accessing the best fishing of the river.
From this scenic vantage point on the fringe of towering hardwoods the visitor has stunning views of the vibrant river against the backdrop of the virgin rainforest giving way to the first snow capped peaks of the western Andes.
American and Delta, offer daily service to Chile, as does Lan Chile, the Chilean National Airline. The majority of foreign flights depart in the evening for Chile and arrive early in the morning at the Santiago International Airport. After receiving your luggage and clearing customs, you’ll take a 5-minute walk to the National Airport where you’ll connect with a 90-minute flight to Puerto Montt’s International Airport, El Tepual. There you will be met by our representative and transferred to the lodge.
To travel from Puerto Montt you can choose between a charter aircraft or ground transportation. The charter flight (not included) takes approximately twenty minutes to deliver you to a small air field on the edge of the village of Puelo where you will be met and transported to the Lodge. Otherwise we will arrange vehicle transportation to the river embarkation point, a beautiful journey of 150 km covered in approximately three hours.
